The Whangarei Anglican Care Centre – Te Whare Oranga (house of well being) offers a range of services to the community in the Whangarei area of Northland, New Zealand.
Serving the community
The Anglican Care Centre began as a dream to set in place a ministry of Christian action in practical terms for everyday people – seeking to express love by responding to the needs within the community.
Counselling
Our counsellors offer an affordable, professional service in Whangarei, Dargaville, and One Tree Point. All counsellors have appropriate training and are affiliated to, or members of NZAC or NZCCA (the professional counselling bodies).
Self development groups (short term or over a period of weeks) are also offered regularly.
Free Budget Advice
Available by appointment for any individuals or couples needing help with money issues. In the process of exploring your personal solutions we also offer advocacy, insolvency advice, support and encouragement. We run community education programmes ‘MONEYmates’ and ‘Senior Chef’.
Our budget advisors (also known as financial mentors) are trained to the standards required by the Building Financial Capability Charitable Trust (TBFCCT).
Seniors Community Work
The aim of our seniors community workers is to facilitate access to the support over 65’s may need to help them live independently in the community.
Help in times of need
As occasions arise, we support and respond to the needs of people in crisis, either by direct help or by referral to other agencies, helping individuals who are in a state of stress or not knowing where to turn.
The Anglican Care Centre has a code of ethics which protects all clients by ensuring confidentiality, competence and respect for individual differences and values.
Funding
We are funded by counselling and supporters donations, grants from various charitable trusts, and by a limited contract with the Ministry of Social Development.
Become a ‘Friend’ of the Care Centre. Current sub is $20.00 per year.
